One of my readers nominated me for the Best Educational Blog Award. I like this award because it is set up so anyone can use it and anyone can nominate blogs they actually read. This is a really good idea for the blog awards that go around!

Thank you to my reader, passitonmom who nominated me for the Best Educational Blog award! I am really honored and touched to know that I actually have outside readers who enjoy reading my blog.

Here are the questions that were asked of me and my answers 🙂  :

1. What is your educational philosophy?

I believe in child-led education. I believe that children learn best when they are learning what they want to learn in their own individual way. I love letting my children choose what we are going to learn every day. They are learning different things than what they would be learning at school because they are not on a subject schedule. What they may not know that their peers do know is outweighed by the other things they do know that their peers may not have the opportunity to learn.

2. How do you learn new information best?

Reading. I love reading books about education, parenting, and teaching.

3. What is your favorite subject and why?

Literature. Reading, writing, the classics, non-fiction, picture books. I love it all. I love anything to do with books and reading and I am trying to pass that love on the best I can to my kiddos.

4. What does your desk or ‘workspace’ look like right now?

Organized piles with just enough space to write or set the laptop down. I just cleaned it so I get to sort of show of :p. Organized clutter!

5. Who inspires you?

CurrClick Other homeschooling mothers and librarians. Homeschooling mothers are just miracle workers who are full of just so much love. Even though homeschool mums may say they don’t have patience and laugh when you say they must have it, these women really do have patience and I love meeting and reading about other homeschooling mothers. I really look up to all the homeschool mums I meet or read about, I think as a community we are a vast support system and full of knowledge.    Librarians are just unsung and unappreciated heroes of the education world. Librarians are full of ideas, resources, and activities and they want to help you. The patience a librarian has in uncomparable to anyone else. I love our librarians and those from my childhood.

    • aww thank you SO much! I started homeschooling when my daughter was 2. She was not able to attend the bright start program due to a waitlist and I thought that is what I was supposed to do! So I joined a homeschool group and found SO much inspiration and a wonderful community. It has been so worth it!
