“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Isn’t that just wonderful? When you are beaten down, exhausted, a complete wreck, just done. We have Matthew there to remind us that we have a safe place.
Between teaching, failing at upkeeping my home, staying up all night with babies, running after pets, researching and planning co-ops and scouts, committee meetings, board meetings, endless to-do lists that just get longer. There are days where I am just ready to cry of exhaustion. Then I come across the words of Matthew.
His burden is light, isn’t it? Is it even a burden at all? I did take rest, finally, because I sat and read this. I took the time and now after just a few simple minutes, I am refreshed.
It is really easy to crash. It’s very easy to be overwhelmed. But why isn’t it easy to take rest? We have a million excuses as to why, but if you have enough time to scroll through Facebook and check your e-mail then you have enough time to refresh yourself.
Remember to take care of yourself. Self-care isn’t chocolate, spas, hairdressers, and what-have-you.
Your mind and heart are the most important and most neglected things.
such a beautiful and easing verse!

Very true – when you invest in your heart and mind the rest seems to fall into place. Keep that focus!
